Editorial policy
Genuine Travel Stories aims to make travel writing engaging without letting a neat story outrun what can be established. We explain our standards and how readers can help us keep the record clear.
Accuracy and context
We check names, dates, descriptions, and factual claims against reliable material appropriate to the subject. Articles should give enough context to avoid turning one example into a sweeping claim about a place or its people. Where information is uncertain or interpretations differ, we say so rather than smoothing the uncertainty away.
Independence
Editorial decisions belong to the publication. A commercial relationship does not buy a favourable conclusion, a promised review, or control over an editorial judgement. We do not present a personal preference as an established fact.
Corrections
If a reader spots an error, they can send the article title and the passage in question through the Contact page. We assess correction requests, amend confirmed factual errors, and make the nature of a meaningful correction clear to readers.
Partner material and illustrations
Paid, gifted, or partner-supported material is identified clearly where it appears, so readers can distinguish it from independent editorial work. Illustrations may sometimes be AI-generated; when they are, we label them and do not present them as documentary photographs.
